One of the most unique fragrances around, the initial animalic-fresh mint-tobacco blast may be a bit challenging but it is also truly evocative, of Cuban mojitos and puros habanos.

Very special, and despite the fact of having tobacco notes, it’s a combination that perfectly suits manly smells. I will definitely recommend it.

My absolute favourite tobacco fragrance. Upon smelling this fragrance, anyone who has spent time in Cuba will be instantly reminded of their time there. A very evocative fragrance. Boozy rum and tobacco, a mentholated note which calls to mind a minty rum Mojito, and some light spices (I detect clove). A completely unique, and delightful fragrance. A must for tobacco lovers.

A masculine majesty, austere, warm like a Cuban evening, with humid tobacco leaves, rhum, benzoin, amber, a fresh touch of zesty citrus and a few culinary herbs. A wet, shady floral heart emerges soon, notes of dry flowers left under the rain, bringing a slight camphor note as in classic masculine chypres. On the base, a stout, refined and cozy woody concoction. As minutes pass it emerges a beautiful rose note slightly fruity too, sensual and juicy, almost carnal, really aromatic and perfectly blended with the overall austere, elegant mood given by tobacco and herbal notes. Dry, almost gloomy, distinguished and exotic, powerful but noble, with a gentle side of more delicate and airy notes. Rose-ambery-woody-smoky drydown, silky and discreet, quite long-lasting and slightly balsamic too. A great, versatile gentlemanly scent.

I love Cuba for its nostalgic memories it conjures up when I wear it. Its how I would imagine a Captains study to smell on an old fashioned ship with its refreshing blend of lime, bergamot and peppermint. Wafts of rum and tobacco add to the exoticness. The layers of spice with bay and clove remind me of the hairdressers when they used Bay Rhum cologne on the scalp after a haircut. The rose is slightly hidden but adds a gentle sweet tone. The Tonka bean adds a touch of boot polish- shoe shine memory. The dark lingering frankincense, cedar wood and vetiver add a lasting warmth like hot Cuban nights. I like to wear this on warm summer evenings as it just sets the tone for the evening.

Transport yourself to Havana! A masculine fragrance with very subtle undertones of big fat cigars. My lady loves it 😉

It’s morning in Havana and you are greeting the day with a freshly rolled cigar. You’ve been up all night drinking rum with mint and lime. You are wearing leather trousers and sweating a little. Cedarwood. Rum. Tobacco. Vanilla. Clove. Peppermint. Lime. A great, long lasting, masculine scent.

Compelling and exotic in a real sense. Dirty, sweaty, animalic, manifestly boozy. Each time I smell this juice I feel as having dinner white clothed (despite the general olfactory darkness) in the Gran Caribe Hotel Habana, the aura I ideally exude is bold, daring and i’m as a globe-trotter brasilian business man full of energy and optimism. Cuba starts with a citrusy aromatic mentholated blast really important, fresh, dark and medicinal which is in a while followed by a mould of spicy tobacco (tonka) and rum able to reproduce a sort of carribean enjoyable atmosphere full of chaotic dances, beautiful women, cruising ships, orchestras, seaside resorts and beaches. I detect immediately the infamous fecal note (durable in a powerful way just for a short while before the spicy booziness succeedes) which is probably aroused by the animalic notes (the typical fecal civet mould I suppose. Black Musk, castoreum too?) interaction with fresh/aromatic elements plus the spices/tobacco accord. The exoticism is created by the blend of the exotic-liquorous tobacco warmth (detectable throughout the trip) and rum with the herbal-medicinal greeness by aromatic mint, bay, cedarwood and vetiver. Some mild floral notes (roses) in the middle link themselves perfectly with the herbal-medicinal whiff, bringing with their addition of soapy smell a sort of laundry-barbershop touch. A leathery soothing note is settled in the dry down in order to link in a captivating way the animalic warmth with the previous herbal-smokey/spicy freshness while a cool frankincense smoothens furtherly the dry spicy/liquorous kind of general virility. I detect the association with a sort of Antaeus (bay, mint, leather, animal notes, woodsy notes, a touch of incense etc) with bad breath (the final animalins of juice-civet-castoreum?). The dry down, after many hours, is really virile, spicy, carnal (but in an elegant and balanced way) and vaguely (far in the wake) boozy/leathery/exotic. Original, persistent and bold. One of my ethernal favorite. I deeply love this concoction and i’m planning to buy a bottle in order to wear the juice for special occasions of feasts, hot summer nights, cruisings, latin excursions and parties on the swimming pool’s side.

There’s something particularly intoxicating about the way Cuba’s scent lifts the spirits whilst keeping an element of sultry sexiness. It’s an unusually sophisticated blend of spicy notes with an alluring element that’s hard to pinpoint . I first encountered Cuba Cologne when trying out a selection of Czech & Speake’s fragrance samples. Of all the ones I tried Cuba was the one that jumped out as being particularly special. It happens to suit my skin’s chemistry and after wearing it for some time the scent developed beautifully. Cuba is not a wallflower scent – it commands attention with a flurry of refined uniqueness evoking sublime memories of Havana’s night life.

Unique in its simplicity, Cuba has everything that a man could & should want in a fragrance. The tobacco, lime and rum are the standout notes here. As a cologne, this stays on and stays noticable, but never overpowering.
Put simply, women love this and I think it may be due to ruggedness of the scent. Manly..sure, but a classic…definitely.

There is a remarkable depth of knowledge to a number of these reviews. Alas, my own nose – let alone my thought process doesn’t allow me to deconstruct the tropical Caribbean allure of Cuba in such a way. However, I reckon what is needed to balance out these reviews is a different angle. A way of conjuring up how and what it makes me feel when I wear it. And yes, I agree, the rugged masculinity of its tobacco, menthol and lime mix packs a punch every bit as powerful as a right-hander from the legendary Teofilo Stevenson.
However, Cuba, conjures up to me nothing so much as an Argentine Polo-playing millionaire named Reeves Rodriguez- dressed in an immaculate Saville Row silk and linen mix navy summer suit, impossibly white and slim-fitted Egyptian cotton shirt open at the throat, Hand crafted snakeskin loafers, Persol sunglasses and a crocodile skin wallet bulging with high dinomination Cuban peso note stuffed in his pocket with a couple of dozen Platinum and black level credit cards for back-up. Perfect teeth, tan and lux hair, nonchalantly swaggering towards his own private Lear Jet for a weekend of wicked entertainment in downtown Havana fuelled by the best rum and cigars. Anyway, that’s what I think of when I wear Czech & Speake. Now, if I could only re-invent myself…

Cuba is provocative and promiscuous—like the best Cuban jazz.

A perfectly adequate reason in liquid form, for me to book myself a flight to Cuba right this instant.

On a man, it represents distinction.
On a woman, it is something bewitchingly beautiful.
